Father’s Day is coming up and we’ve found the perfect treat—Bourbon Bacon Cinnamon Rolls. Whether your dad loves breakfast or dessert, this is sure to make him feel loved.
With bourbon, bacon, and Southern Coffee, it’s hard to go wrong! Start this recipe by making the dough.
3c. Bread Flour
1t. Baking powder
1/2t. Baking soda
3T. Melted butter
Sift all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Then, add buttermilk, melted butter, and bourbon. Mix just until combined.
Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead until smooth (Tip: dust the dough with flour as needed until it’s no longer sticky.) Roll into a rectangle that’s approximately 1/2-1/4” in thickness.
Next, make the filling and set aside. Be sure to save half of the bacon for topping the finished, iced rolls.
4-5 pieces of bacon crumbled and divided in half
3/4c. Brown Sugar
3T. Melted butter
Now, back to the dough! Pour melter butter onto dough and spread with brush or spoon. Sprinkle most of filling mixture evenly on dough and roll into a log. Cut 1” rolls and place about 1/2” apart on greased or parchment paper lined pan (Tip: sprinkling a light dusting of sugar filling on the bottom of pan creates a yummy caramelized layer on bottom of rolls).
After arranging rolls, sprinkle remaining sugar mixture over top of rolls and brush with 1T. melted butter. Bake on 425°F for a 25-30 minutes or until nicely browned.
While the rolls are baking, treat yourself to a fresh cup of Southern Coffee while making the icing! You deserve it.
1/4c. Cream Cheese
1 1/3c. Powdered sugar
2-3T. Southern Coffee Services Premium Dark brewed coffee
Milk as needed to adjust consistency
Once the rolls are nicely browned, remove from them from the oven and pat yourself on the back. You’re almost done! Add the icing and sprinkle with remaining bacon after rolls have cooled 15 minutes.
These are best served fresh with your favorite people and favorite roast of Fresh Southern Coffee! (Tip: Premium Dark Roast is our most-gifted Father's Day roast)
